For longer trips, a secondary 600cc motorcycle engine is available which is designed to charge the battery during extended drives.

The i8 is a hybrid electric/fuel concept car which is being released to fulfill the needs of individuals looking for a hybrid sports car. Since the front and rear ends are not connected, power to the front wheels is provided through a single speed gear and is said to have a range of 20 miles on a charge. The rear end is powered by a 3.0L DOHC BMW engine and puts out an impressive 220hp, giving it plenty of power to accompany its sleek looks.
